All of my WU are terminating upon startup with this error. I know my video card is slow, but it's on the supported list. I don't know what's wrong. BOINC 6.4.5.

All of my WU are terminating upon startup with this error. I know my video card is slow, but it's on the supported list. I don't know what's wrong. BOINC 6.4.5. What drivers are you using? Are they from the CUDA website? Also, doesn't the 8600GT only have 32 cores? The output file is showing 128.

I have no idea how many cores it should have. It's your typical PCIe 8600GT.

32 shaders / cores. I guess you should update your driver.

32 shaders / cores. I guess you should update your driver. I'd also say update your drivers. I think 173.xx was a CUDA 1.0 driver. I use 177.80 on my Linux boxes and it's working fine with this driver... ____________ pixelicious.at - my little photoblog

I just got the same error on 4 WUs, but can't try anything else today as I reached my daily quorum. So 21 Dez 2008 12:58:30 CET|GPUGRID|Starting AX11241-GPUTEST6-5-20-acemd_0 And my WUs stderr: stderr out It's as well a 8600GT, as you can look in my puter description as well. I don't know haow to count my cores, I never read anything in a technical description about it. My driver is 173.14.12, installed via EnvyNG, I'll try to update to something newer an keep you posted. BTW: I got my WUs with 6.4.5, no prob getting them, just crunching, and that shouldn't be the problem of the manager afaik. ____________ Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki

You need to download new drivers. These will not work.

You need to download new drivers. These will not work. I just tried, but got the same installed again. I looked in the synaptic packet manager and found nothing newer as well. I'm a user, not a nerd, and I hate terminals/command line, that's last century or nerd stuff. How do I get the newer drivers without hacking some (for me) senseless texts in a terminal? ____________ Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki

I guess you use Ubuntu or one of its flavours?

I guess you use Ubuntu or one of its flavours? I've got 8.04, and I thought a LTS version would be finer than installing every half year some new stuff. Why isn't it included in the usual updates? But that's not your problem ;) I'll DL the 8.10 and will install it, but probably not before Christmas. ____________ Gruesse vom Saenger For questions about Boinc look in the BOINC-Wiki

You can upgrade the already installed Ubuntu, no need to reinstall the whole system... There should be some updating tool when you check the programm menus.

you can upgrade by changing in package sources to check for STS not LTS; That's how i've upgraded from 8.04 to 8.10, no problems.
