According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units a GTX770 uses a Kepler core rated 3213 GFLOP and burns 230W. A GTX960 uses a Maxwell core rated 2308 GFLOP and burns 120W.

A GTX960 uses a Maxwell core rated 2308 GFLOP and burns 120W. Ah, thanks. So I see that the minimum power supply is a 600 watt and I have a 600 watt. I'm thinking of staying with this 600 watt, or should I go higher? Will having that card with my 600 watt power supply affect anything?

A quality 600 watt supply is more than enough for almost any system with either of those cards. Heck, it could probably run them both along with a typical PC. The "minimum power supply" requirements the GPU manufacturers post are very conservative and assume you have a low quality power supply.

I would have no problems using the 600W power supply, assuming it is relatively new and has the proper power cable to attach to the two power sockets on the card.

I do not really know that much about power supply's and all i know is that mine has enough connectors for the 770, yes. My power supply is a corsair cx-600m.

I have a intel core i3 4160 3.60ghz cpu and how do i tell what version my pci slot is?Your CPU has PCIe3.0 integrated so the slot is the same. I don't recommend to buy a GTX 770 (or any pre-Maxwell) card. If you already have one you can use it, but don't invest in outdated technology.

My power supply is a corsair cx-600m. That power supply will run either card along with your system without breaking a sweat. My pc is a lenovo h50-50. That system should have no trouble keeping either card cool although you MAY need to add a fan to the 120mm opening in the back if there isn't one there already. I don't recommend to buy a GTX 770 (or any pre-Maxwell) card. If you already have one you can use it, but don't invest in outdated technology. I agree.

I want to get a couple of dell optiplex 745 minitowers (around 50 bucks each on ebay) and stick a gtx 750ti in them, and then run gpugrid on them. I know the gtx 750ti is not brand new but it will help me so much to use the dell pc's factory psu instead of me buying a whole new one. What do you all think of this idea?According to its technical specifications, this is a very old hardware. The Q965 chipset is 10 years old, it has only PCIe1.1, and quite slow. I have some DQ965GF motherboards from rolled out office PCs as contingency reserve, they are really slow even with Windows XP. I would get some first generation i3 desktops, they are much better than this Q965 based scrap.
