I've received a couple of Cuda4.0 and Cuda4.2 beta workunints, and they are working fine.

I cannot find a single reason while the server gives both applications out to the same computer.

I have done some changes on the server side to see if the application delivery improves.

There are two strange things about the cuda4.2 beta client v6.46:
ID: 25632 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Cuda 40 = GPU load ~97% CPU load 8% No screen lag, 122secs

Just had two cuda40 tasks error. One at 20secs, other at 41secs.

Both 680's now receiving 4.2 constantly. So far so good. Runtimes of roughly 60 sec on each one with a 3820@ 4.3.

Probably a BOINC client bug.
The new clients don't honour SWAN_SYNC right now. They automatically set blocking sync (low CPU load). MJH

2. The beta client seems to be ignoring the swan_sync=0 setting on my hosts. The swan_sync=0 seems to be working with the 6.46 beta client on this host.

Seems there is not lot difference between running a GTX 480 or a GTX 680 on cuda 4.2 , at this time, i think. Will that be improved in future ?

Right now it looks like RZs 480 on xp was around 6-7 seconds slower than a 680 on W7. Probably 10 seconds difference if the 680 was on xp. That's pretty big. No? Especially considering the power consumption, which is my favorite factor. :)

Would you reveal your computers so that I can see your WUs, please? MJH

Been looking for that tick for awhile now and still can't find it....

The test WU is a very small system and the additional overhead of Win 7 is probably enough to hide the performance benefit. On a nice Linux system, however, the 4.2 app on 680 should have ~1.6x over a 480, even on these WUs. MJH

Changed it. Surprised I missed that... Ran about 5-7 seconds longer with other cores being used for WCG. So 60-61 WCG suspended amd 65-67 with it running on 6 threads I believe. Oh and RZ, mine apparently had swan sync =0 working as well. Didn't change any settings manually.

There is more CPU usage at the start and finish of the GPU tasks, so the performance of longer tasks might differ. I expect they would be less effected by running CPU tasks (especially when using 6threads from 8). So having 2 free or 8 free might make very little difference for the normal GPUGrid tasks on the 4.2app.
