Hi. Do you have two cores available for gpugrid.net tasks? If not, free up the two cores.

I am presently running a Ubuntu 11.04 64bit OS on an i7-2600K, with a GTX260-216. Actually just put it in to test following another post.

Everything from stock. I have a GTX 570 too. If it's running that cool with only 40% fan speed then probably your GPU is running at low speed. The "stock speed" actually gives you 3 speed steps. I am quite sure your GPUs are not jumping up to the highest speed when the GPUgrid task starts. Open the nvidia-settings application via your application launcher or just enter "nvidia-settings" in a terminal. On the Power Mizer page you'll see the clock speeds your GPUs are running at. When the GPUgrid app is running the clock speeds should be: Graphics Clock: 742 Memory Clock: 1900 Processor Clock: 1484 If the speeds are lower then that is why your tasks run so slow. When you get the clock speeds up you'll want to increase the fan speed too. My 570 does not automatically increase the fan speed when the temperature rises. I had to "manually" force it to higher speed. I posted directions on how to do that here.
